Epoch Industries has developed a new line of composite idler rolls priced almost as low as aluminum. Currently available only at 2.145" O.D., 3.0" & 4.2" are in development.
Current Specifications:

Tube:	14 mpsi longitudinal modulus, carbon fiber, composite. 2.145" O.D., 1.99" I.D.
Roll Face:	Up to 64"
Surface finish:	32 RMS or better.
Taper over face width not to exceed .0005"/ft (.002" min.)
T.I.R.:	up to .003" on ends, .004" in middle up to 24, .005" in middle up to 64"
Dynamically balanced to 750 F.P.M. to ISO G6.3 grade
Maximum temperature:	250 deg. F.
Surface wear comparable to hard anodized aluminum
Surface is conductive to static electricity
Rolls able to be rubber covered

Dead Shaft Rolls:

Rolls have aluminum ends bonded into the ends of the composite tube. These ends are machined for a light press fit for an ER style bearing.
Bearings:	Special Sealmaster low-drag, ER style bearings for a ¾" thru shaft standard (1/2" shaft size available). Extra low drag ER style bearing available upon request (application dependent).
Shafts:	Available in 1045 steel or 303 stainless steel.
Weight (lbs) = (Roll Face x 0.026 ) + 1.36

Live Shaft Rolls:

Rolls can have either steel or aluminum shafts bonded into the end of the rolls. Weight of the roll will be provided with each individual quotation.
